The Chapter One Young Writer's Conference, run by my dear friend and CP Julia, is a conference for young writers originally founded for my online writing friends, whom I interviewed on this blog a week and a half ago. We wanted to meet up, hang out, and share our love of writing. I wasn't able to go in person, due to a lack of funds, but I did teach a session over video. Because of the success of our conference, Julia went ahead and made the conference an official one, open to all young writers to attend. I'm one of the administrators of the conference, which has both a website (linked above) and a Facebook page.
This year, the conference will be in Chicago, Illinois, on June 14-15. If you're interested in attending, please do sign up ASAP! It'll be fantastic, I promise.
Now, I wasn't able to raise the money I needed. I'm at $530 right now. so I won't be attending this year. It's unfortunate, because we were hopeful that I could run a session again. Nonetheless, the conference will be great, and I hope to be able to attend it soon, perhaps next year. If you'd like to donate to support my attempt to get to the conference and meet my writing friends of so many years, here's a link for you.
Today, I'm giving the promised rewards to those who have donated thus far. In explaining Chap1Con and my desire to attend, I've completed my reward to Julia Byers. =) I would have explained anyway, obviously, but there you go.
All other rewards will soon be given out to those who have donated. Thank you so very much for your support! And for those of you reading this, thanks for checking in, and please come back next time for a post on issues of race in YA lit!
