First, some exciting news! Yesterday, I finished writing the first draft of SAMMI! Yay! I finally got through the tough parts and I managed to dash to the end. Right now, it's almost 70,000 words and in need of a lot of edits that I have already planned to do. I'm taking a break first, of course, but I'll be back on the editing train soon. It's all very exciting!
So for the blog today I'm doing a "what's in my jewelry box" post, like "what's in my purse," which I haven't done cuz I don't do purses, or the one I did do, "what's in my makeup bag." It's also vaguely related to the "bookshelf tour." But with my jewelry box. Follow ze photos below!
First, the section dedicated to my rings. I guess normal people put earrings here, but I don't have pierced ears. So from the top: a "K" ring, a mimic of the Duchess of Cambridge's engagement ring, a few goldtone rings from one of my cousins's weddings, a goldtone red rose ring that was my Grandma's, and a peach rose ring. (You can assume any jewelry is from my mom if not otherwise specified.) I usually only wear rings on special occasions.
These two sections are my hair stuff: ties, clips, pins, barrettes. Because I don't have any clue about hair, I basically only actually use the ties. You can also see my fancy watch in the second picture, for special occasions.
These are more special occasion things: a silvertone heart pin I got on a high school orchestra trip, a goldtone bracelet with crystal studded hearts, and a mockingjay pin, Catching Fire style. Then in the other compartment, a couple of circle charms and a red-crystal charm that can go on an empty necklace chain and a naughty-or-nice Christmas necklace.
The jewelry I actually wear is necklaces. I try to wear one every day, but some days I'm really lazy. Anyway, this first drawer is of necklaces that don't have a particular "center" or charm on them. The first is a pearl choker that was my Grandma's, except it makes me itch so I can only wear it for short times. The second is a faux pearl necklace my BFF got for me, then a coppertone necklace with bird accents that another high school friend made. The next two are also my Grandma's, a silver one with a bird accent and turquoise and one with alternating obsidian and turquoise beads. The sixth is a plain black plastic one, followed by a silvertone with flower accents and a plain silvertone.
The second drawer is for necklaces that do have a center/charm. The first is a mood dolphin on a black cord--it's like a mood ring, but in a necklace form. Apparently, the bed it's lying on here feels "neutral." The second necklace is some kind of black rock made into beads and a dolphin, given to me by my Grandpa. The third is a locket with a mimic of a mockingjay in goldtone, followed by an official Compulsion by Martina Boone necklace I won in a giveaway. Then another of Grandma's necklaces: goldtone with a lapis luzuli inset. The sixth is a favorite of mine, silvertone with a baby CTR ring (a LDS church thing). Then there's a silver circle, crystal-studded, followed by a similar one with a heart in the center. Then a sideways heart with a small set of crystals inset and a music note with a crystal-studded base, both silvertone, followed by one with a silver sword on it that I put together myself in honor of the book I was writing at the time, MERCIFUL.
Finally, the necklace I was wearing at the time of the shoot, a mimic of the kaleidoscope Tiffany Key. I also won this from Martina Boone. Pretty!
There you have it! Thanks for reading, guys! I'll see you next time for our April humor post.
