Yes, I'm about to be very self-indulgent and do one of those these-are-my-pets blog posts. It had to happen. I've had a terrible week, so I deserve it.
This is Angel. She's the oldest, about seven years or so now. I got her when I was ten for free from a family who didn't want her. I was going to name her Pearl originally, but I could tell she was going to change from white to multicolor. She's a very grumpy person, especially now that we've got three other cats, but I love her. Even though she tries to kill me. A lot.
That picture is of Stormy and Sakura, who are sisters, when they were younger. Sakura's the very Siamese-ish one to the right. She's skittish but very pretty, with womanly hips. We adopted them both from the animal shelter as kittens, and they each belong to one of my brothers. Almost every picture I have of these two is of them together like this.
Here's a close-up of Stormy, a little bit before my high school graduation. We stuck some of that paper you put in gift bags on her. She takes it so well because she's stupid. (She's also fat.) If you know of Hyperbole and a Half's Simple Dog, then you should understand. Stormy is Simple Dog's feline equivalent.
This is Zoey! I fostered her the summer before I came to college, because the shelter was running out of foster homes. We thought she was a dude at first and called her Hamlet, but she's actually a Zoey. After I left for college, my family ended up adopting her because she was too small to get spayed on time. By the time she was ready to go back to the shelter, it was much too late. She was one of us.
Before I let y'all go, you have to watch this. This is the funniest cat video I have ever seen. My college friends showed it to me first, and I die laughing every time. And I've seen it six or seven times now. I made all my other friends watch it.
In news, I decided this week to stop sending On the Dawning out. It's been rejected twenty-five times now, and I think it's time I step back again and rethink what I'm doing. Maybe that one's not publishing material yet.
*sigh* I don't know. I've been driving myself crazy with social pressures, being sick, my lack of ability to sing due to being sick, schoolwork, renovations in the dorms, and the like. It's just not been a good week.
Come back next week, my friends, for our monthly humor post!
I'm an unpublished novelist, primarily of YA fantasy, and a freelance editor. I love psychology, cats, social justice, and love! I'm also a huge fangirl. More than anything, stories are my life.
